Eyelid Lift Toronto - Blepharoplasty Oshawa

Give your eyes a rejuvenated look
Welcome to our Eye lift informational page. Here we will discuss the different eye lift surgery options offered by Dr. Golger and the team at Avenue Plastic Surgery here in Toronto.
Eye lift Surgery in Toronto
An eye lift, or blepharoplasty, is an operation aiming at remodeling a patient’s eyelids and general eye area. It is relatively similar to a face lift in its process. Patients usually undergo an eye lift in order to address excess or loose skin, wrinkles and other cosmetic or functional problems like obstructed vision. Alternatives to blepharoplasty that don’t involve any surgery have arisen in recent times for targeted problems. These procedures are relatively simple but with more short-term results.
Eye lifts are performed under anesthesia (usually general) and involve incisions that will be located in a place where scarring won’t be visible (for example just below the eyelashes or hidden in the upper eyelid). Following the incision, the surgeon will proceed to reshape the eyelid, removing or relocating fat and skin. Stitching or alternatives to suturing are then used to close the incision.
Reducing Side Effects and Complications From Eye Lifts
People eligible for this type of procedure are ideally non-smoking adults in good general health and no serious eye problems. Other conditions can also increase risks and it is imperative to go through a full evaluation with Dr. Golger prior to scheduling a blepharoplasty.
Side Effects
Side effects including pain, swelling and bruising are to be expected after the procedure and will take a few weeks to subside. Specific instructions and sometimes medication will be provided by Dr. Golger in order to make the recovery process easier. A normal activity including reading and watching TV can be resumed after a couple of days, but increased eye sensitivity might prevent contact lens use for a few weeks.
Recovery and results
Results will appear progressively in the months following the eye lift. Results should be long-lasting, but an eye lift doesn’t stop or slow down the aging process, which means that some patients will never need any more surgery, while others might encounter the same problems after a certain period of time.
