One cannot separate or compare one vs. the other. Brow lift and upper blepharoplasty is a continuum of upper facial rejuvenation. There are two distinct issues: one is brow ptosis and the second is access skin of the upper eyelids. Brow ptosis can exacerbate the look of excess skin over the upper eyelids. It is important to identify each issue individually. Mistakenly one can remove too much skin from the upper eyelids and cause complications of the eyelid function.
On the flip side you might have minimal amount of skin on the eyelid, but have a severe ptotic brow. In this case, having a blepharoplasty would be a mistake.
In summary, it is important for you to speak with your plastic surgeon to determine which procedure(s) would be most appropriate to address your area of concern.
My first recommendation would be to schedule another consultation with the surgeon performing your mommy makeover surgery to discuss his approach with pain management and his experience with patients who undergo combined procedures.
In our experience, the pain is usually very well tolerated with preemptive analgesia. We do this by providing multiple pain medications that begin before surgery and are prescribed for several days after surgery.
Although we encourage immediate activities on the day of surgery, within reason and according to patience tolerance, we allow full return to normal activities at 6 weeks time.
In Ontario, Canada umbilical hernia is an insured procedure. Diastasis Recti is not insured as it is a standard part of an abdominoplasty which is a cosmetic (elective) procedure. In most cases if a patient is having an abdominoplasty and requires repair for an umbilical hernia, both procedures would be booked at the same time.
First step is to call your insurance company, in Ontario this is OHIP, and request the criteria for breast reduction coverage in your area. Some of the criteria might include: patient symptoms related to breast size (from a D cup or larger), shoulder, neck and back pain, under breast skin inflammations, and shoulder grooves from the bra. It is also a good idea to meet with a board certified plastic surgeon for a consultation to discuss your reasons for wanting a breast reduction. They will guide you through the application process.
There are many natural and herbal products on the market that claim various benefits associated with surgery. First thing that comes to mind is Arnica. Unfortunately, most of these products are based off of anecdotal evidence. At the same time some of the natural or herbal medicines can cause adverse events such as clotting or bleeding. You should review your current medications with your doctor and if in doubt, discontinue all natural or herbal products two weeks prior to surgery.
I am choosing between saline & silicone implants. I am thin but have a lot of breast tissue. I will be going under the muscle with implants under 200 cc to go from a B cup to about a C cup. How much of an issue is rippling for women with fair amount to a lot of breast tissue? I don't know the volume range for the saline shell so I'm not sure if 170-200 cc would allow overfilling to lower the chances of rippling. Over the years, is rippling inevitable regardless of the amount of breast tissue? There have been many reported cases of rippling with the use of saline implants. In terms of breast tissue coverage there are two types of rippling that can occur: visible and palpable. - Visible rippling is a lesser issue with silicone implants, particularly the form stable devices. - Palpable rippling can occur with both types of implants particularly in the lower, lateral aspect of the breast. This is due to less muscle coverage and thinner breast tissue. Rippling can sometimes be confused with implant palpability which is also a factor of implant size and the amount of breast tissue.
If you are unhappy with the appearance or function of your nose, you are not alone. Rhinoplasty is one of the most popular plastic surgery procedures. Rhinoplasty can improve almost any aesthetic nose issue such as a nose which appears to be either too large or too small in relation to the other features of the face, a nose which has indentations or bumps, a nose with nostrils that are considered too large or too small.
In addition to aesthetic issues, functional issues can also contribute to a person choosing to undergo a Rhinoplasty. Function issues would be problems in the structure of the nose making it difficult to breathe through such as a deviated septum. There are several reasons a woman may decide to undergo a Breast Reduction surgery. Women with overly large breasts often deal with chronic pain daily in the neck, shoulders and back. Overly large breast can restrict activity, making exercise extremely uncomfortable. There are also often emotional concerns as women with overly large breasts tend to feel self-conscious and uncomfortable in their skin. Dr. Golger has helped many Toronto women achieve the aesthetic goals they desire for their bodies and enabled them to begin enjoying a life free of pain.
There are a couple different techniques available to women considering Breast Reduction and each is entirely dependent on the amount of change, or results the patient has in mind. During the consultation with Dr. Golger each technique will be discussed from the keyhole technique, the vertical to the horizontal techniques, the free nipple graft technique and even breast Liposuction. Breast Liposuction is used when only a small amount of change is required. To begin discussing your options for a pain-free tomorrow, contact our office to schedule your consultation.
With age and experience, our bodies begin to take on difference shapes. Our skin begins to become less elastic and sag and this is true not only about our faces, but, for women, in our breasts as well. The breast lift procedure has been incredibly popular among women desiring to restore youth to their breasts. Dr. Golger has helped many Toronto area women achieve the breasts they desire through Breast Lift surgery.
A Breast Lift surgery is designed to remove the excess skin which is sagging and the breast is lifted higher. In some cases the areola may also be lifted, re-shaped or re-sized as needed to create the most ideal, natural look. Next, the remaining skin is closed around the areola creating lifted, perkier and even firmer breasts. If loss of mass is also a concern, a Breast Lift coupled with a Breast Augmentation may be the best way to achieve the desired results.

Though not a weight loss treatment, Liposuction can help to improve stubborn trouble areas than many men and women deal with. Genetics play a large role in determining where our bodies gain and hold on to fat. These areas can be extremely resistant to diet and exercise and that is often frustrating. Through Liposuction it is possible to remove those stubborn fat deposits and improve your overall figure into a more flattering proportion.
Ideal candidates for Liposuction are in good health and maintaining a healthy weight. You should have realistic expectations and be committed to continuing a healthy diet and exercise regime even after the procedure in order to maintain the results. To learn more about this and other body contouring procedures we offer, contact our office and we will be more than happy to answer any questions you may have or to schedule you for a consultation.
The condition of overdeveloped breast tissue in men is called Gynecomastia and it effects more men than you might think. While most men will outgrow the condition, those who don’t are often left feeling constantly self-conscious and under painful scrutiny by peers which causes low self-confidence.
Through Male Breast Reduction the excess glandular tissue is removed and sometimes, if there is any, excess skin as well. Liposuction is occasionally used to remove excess fatty tissue and the results are a flatter, more toned, masculine chest.
If you want to learn more about Gynecomastia and it’s treatment, contact our office today to set up your consultation with Dr. Golger.

Most women have at least a slight variance of size between their breasts, but for some women, the distinction is as much as a cup size or more. These women often feel very self-conscious of their breasts in intimate and social situations and can have a difficult time finding clothes they feel confident in. In these cases, a surgical treatment is often the best remedy. In a Breast Asymmetry surgery one of two things can be done: the larger breast can be reduced to match the smaller one, or a breast implant can be placed in one or both to even the breasts.
The success of our patients determines our success, but how do you measure the success of a plastic surgery procedure? Patient safety and care is our first- most important goal, with a close second being our patient’s satisfaction upon seeing their results in the days, weeks, months, and years following the procedure.
When considering where to get your plastic surgery procedure done, you have many factors to research. Accreditation, education, training and experience are all incredibly important. Beyond that it is the plastic surgeon’s track-record for success and his reputation both among his patients and his peers which counts the most. One way to get a good feel for other patient’s experiences is to read the plastic surgeon’s testimonials. Find out about the patient experience from those who’ve been there.
We invite you to read what past patients have to say about their experiences with Dr. Golger on our Testimonials page and if you are a past patient we’d love to hear what you have to say about your personal experience!
It’s hard enough losing the weight no matter what method you use to achieve your weight loss goals. Through bariatric surgery or diet and weight loss, oftentimes men and women are left with excess, sagging skin which can be a devastating blow when you just want to enjoy your new body and all the hard work it took to get to the new, thinner you. You want to show off your hard work, but the excess sagging skin is standing in your way and no amount of diet and exercise can take it away.
This is when many patients turn to the total Body Lift procedure at Toronto’s Avenue Plastic Surgery. A Body Lift procedure can put those finishing touches on your weight loss by removing the excess skin, revealing the new, thinner you underneath. A Body Lift procedure is actually not one, but a combination of procedures that can be custom-combined to meet the individual needs of each patient. For example, a Body Lift procedure may include some combination of the following procedures: a Tummy Tuck, Breast Lift, Arm Lift, Thigh Lift, Buttock Lift, Neck and/or Face Lift. Sometimes Liposuction may also be used in conjunction with these procedures for optimal results. Your exact treatment plan be decided upon after your plastic surgeon has examined you and you have discussed your goals together.
