Browlift Vs Blepharoplasty Which is Best for Sagging Eyelids?
One cannot separate or compare one vs. the other. Brow lift and upper blepharoplasty is a continuum of upper facial rejuvenation. There are two distinct issues: one is brow ptosis and the second is access skin of the upper eyelids. Brow ptosis can exacerbate the look of excess skin over the upper eyelids. It is important to identify each issue individually. Mistakenly one can remove too much skin from the upper eyelids and cause complications of the eyelid function.
On the flip side you might have minimal amount of skin on the eyelid, but have a severe ptotic brow. In this case, having a blepharoplasty would be a mistake.
In summary, it is important for you to speak with your plastic surgeon to determine which procedure(s) would be most appropriate to address your area of concern.
Mommy Makeover Recovery Time?
My first recommendation would be to schedule another consultation with the surgeon performing your mommy makeover surgery to discuss his approach with pain management and his experience with patients who undergo combined procedures.
In our experience, the pain is usually very well tolerated with preemptive analgesia. We do this by providing multiple pain medications that begin before surgery and are prescribed for several days after surgery.
Although we encourage immediate activities on the day of surgery, within reason and according to patience tolerance, we allow full return to normal activities at 6 weeks time.
Umbilical Hernia and Diastasis Recti
In Ontario, Canada umbilical hernia is an insured procedure. Diastasis Recti is not insured as it is a standard part of an abdominoplasty which is a cosmetic (elective) procedure. In most cases if a patient is having an abdominoplasty and requires repair for an umbilical hernia, both procedures would be booked at the same time.
What is my First Step to Getting my Insurance Company to Pay for a Breast Reduction?
First step is to call your insurance company, in Ontario this is OHIP, and request the criteria for breast reduction coverage in your area. Some of the criteria might include: patient symptoms related to breast size (from a D cup or larger), shoulder, neck and back pain, under breast skin inflammations, and shoulder grooves from the bra. It is also a good idea to meet with a board certified plastic surgeon for a consultation to discuss your reasons for wanting a breast reduction. They will guide you through the application process.
Supplements Before Surgery: Is it ok to take supplements before liposuction surgery? Everything I take is all natural such as enzymes, colon clear for regular bowel movements, sulphur, HTP-5 and so on. Why or why not?
There are many natural and herbal products on the market that claim various benefits associated with surgery. First thing that comes to mind is Arnica. Unfortunately, most of these products are based off of anecdotal evidence. At the same time some of the natural or herbal medicines can cause adverse events such as clotting or bleeding. You should review your current medications with your doctor and if in doubt, discontinue all natural or herbal products two weeks prior to surgery.
How Much of an Issue Is Rippling For Someone With a Lot of Breast Tissue?
I am choosing between saline & silicone implants. I am thin but have a lot of breast tissue. I will be going under the muscle with implants under 200 cc to go from a B cup to about a C cup. How much of an issue is rippling for women with fair amount to a lot of breast tissue? I don't know the volume range for the saline shell so I'm not sure if 170-200 cc would allow overfilling to lower the chances of rippling. Over the years, is rippling inevitable regardless of the amount of breast tissue? There have been many reported cases of rippling with the use of saline implants. In terms of breast tissue coverage there are two types of rippling that can occur: visible and palpable. - Visible rippling is a lesser issue with silicone implants, particularly the form stable devices. - Palpable rippling can occur with both types of implants particularly in the lower, lateral aspect of the breast. This is due to less muscle coverage and thinner breast tissue. Rippling can sometimes be confused with implant palpability which is also a factor of implant size and the amount of breast tissue.
